Here is our amazing team.

Darya Naumova (MDCM Class of 2022)

Darya Naumova is the President. She speaks Ukrainian, Russian, English and French. Darya oversees MedComm’s research, advocacy and educational projects. Last year, she developed the “Medical Interpretation Workshop” which trains volunteers in the basics of medical interpretation. Her hobbies include gardening, fermenting and preserving and cooking.

Kenzy Abdelhamid (PGY-1 Psychiatry McGill)

Kenzy Abdelhamid is the Founder and Past President. She speaks Arabic (Egyptian), English and French. Through MedComm’s research, advocacy and educational projects, Kenzy hopes patients facing language barriers in the healthcare setting can have more equitable access to care. Her hobbies are running, spinning and hiking.

Jun Yang Liu (Class 2023)

Jun is the Vice President. He leads the liaison between MedComm and community organizations. He also collaborates with public health groups to advocate for patients facing language barriers in the healthcare system. We are glad to have him in our team! Jun speaks English, French and Mandarin.

Sangkha S. Paul (Class 2024)

Sangkha is the VP Operations. She is grateful to have been one of the co-developers and presenters of the ‘How to Interact with an Interpreter’ workshop because it allowed her to learn more about the important issue of language barriers in the healthcare setting while giving her an opportunity to share her knowledge and contribute to raising awareness about this issue. Sangkha is fluent in English, French and Bengali. She is conversant in Italian and Hindi. Her hobbies include baking, singing and learning new languages.

Marianne Bou Rjeily (Class 2024)

Marianne is the VP Operations. She was involved in creating a workshop on how to interact with medical interpreters and is currently giving this workshop in hopes of spreading awareness of language barriers and the importance of utilizing the tools available in helping ensure that patients with language barriers receive the care they need. Marianne speaks English, French and Arabic. Her hobbies are cooking, dancing and acrobatics.

Jenny Wang (MDCM Class of 2025)

Jenny Wang is the VP Internal. She speaks English, French, Spanish, Mandarin and Shanghainese. Through MedComm, Jenny hopes to ensure all patients have access to the health services they need, regardless of the language they speak. She is proud to have helped with the conception of the website, hoping it has made MedComm a more accessible and useful tool!

Elyonora Sargi (Class 2023)

Elyonora is the VP Communications. She participated on implementing the creation of a new MedComm Website and hopes to implement further teaching on the topic of language barriers in the medical school curriculum. Elyonora speaks French, English, Arabic and Spanish.

Nour Seulami (MDCM Class of 2022)

Nour is the VP External. She speaks French, English, Arabic and Spanish. Nour led the creation of a position paper advocating for patients facing language barriers in the healthcare system. She now hopes to implement further teaching on the topic in the medical school curriculum. Her hobbies are most sports, from volleyball to downhill skiing.

Shaan Bhambra (MDCM Class of 2022)

Shaan is the Vice President (Research). He speaks English, French, Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu. Shaan is very proud of our ongoing research and publications in progress!

Shihan Chen (MDCM Class of 2024)

Shihan is the VP Research (Junior). She speaks English and Mandarin. We are currently working on a systematic scoping review exploring the role of medical students as Interpreters in healthcare centers. Can’t wait to see the results!

Thalia Nguyen (MDCM Class of 2024)

Thalia is the VP Events. She speaks French and English. She is very proud to have contributed to the creation of the workshops on How to Interact with an Interpreter and hopes for them to become widely used in the future.

Rehka Raveen (Class 2023)

Rehka is the dental representative of our team. Through the MedComm initiative, she would like to help contribute to making a positive difference in the patient-doctor communication and delivery of proper health care services. Rehka speaks English, French and Tamil. Her hobbies are painting, drawing, hanging out with friends, music and reading science fiction novels.
